Christmas Music

The hell with it, it's Christmas, let's be conventional -
a good excuse to revisit the lovely Jean-Baptiste Maunier, with his superb voice (which he doesn't have any more) and his petit air de James Dean (which he'll have for a few years yet, make the most of it JB):

No? Too virtuous for you? All right then:

And on the very day I posted this, BBC Radio1 briefly decided to bleep some of the Fairytale, causing a storm of uproar and backtracking... are we topical on this site or what?

the Maunier one is lovely Zeph but I can't help thinking of the dishwasher from The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover

the other one says it's no longer available

I wonder what a James Dean piece would have sounded like, less virtuous I fear

Have to confess I never saw The Cook etc, don't relate to Greenaway's work very well.

The other one should still be there, try at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltiY-BqvOIU. It's probably in demand!

O Yes, that did it, sniff

Gwan Shane, Gwan Kirsty! Never seen the vid before thanks Zeph

"I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you"

...so, what are all of us good girls and boys expecting from Santa then?

I just lerv those lyrics... and the video is really nice, shame about the logos but it's the only one I could find. Couldn't find any clips of James Dean singing, sorry about that:)

Christmas presents, how about world peace and GW Bush making an overnight decision to go into a Trappist monastery?

The voice of an angel, looks to die for, long live Shane McGowan!

"You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas you arse
I pray God it's our last"

Christmas spirit? Bring it on!

Got my pressie already, it's 20 feet long, white and purple, and seats three. Matari'i, we called it.

Blooming heck - no point buying the arts pages of the papers when you lot are on the case. Damn and double damn you all! I was going to do a thing about the BBC banning/not banning, but you're all here first.

What a cunning crew you are!

Offie, have you been following the Canoe Man scandal in the UK news pages?

You're not planning to disappear so Mrs O can cash in the life insurance?

shhhhhhh!

Would Offie not stand out a bit in Hartlepool wearing that leopard-print thong?

offsideintahiti said...

Tiger-print, Mimi, please. Don't get your felines mixed-up.

My felines are never confused. I have two leopard coloured ones who are nice and purry, and one small black fierce who is just fierce.

That was my Welsh cousin, obviously!

Never confused. Just cruising for a bruising.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXBGg8PzsU0

As I sup my nighttime tea from my brand new OS Mug, I am listening to a fave of a few years back. Reminded to search out Edwyn Collins after watching a very moving doc on the Beeb. He nearly died but is still with us - listen and enjoy
