File--

Very interested in what you're up to here, but rather than go on about it in one of those notorious long posts, I've just written a brief response piece and sent it to Z.

Very cool, Filou, and reminisssscent of some of your earlier effortssss, with a new twisssst.

Very curioussss about the technique, me.

Oh, and we have loads of lizards in the cabin here, I'll have to ask them about their intentions.

The music is great, the lyrics are cool
lets the band take a swim in your pool-
Once I was a poet but I lost my muse
Who left me for File or his pool she may use.

glad to have piqued your interest bthep, was going to say that I don't think anyone on this site has any problem with long or short posts, but I've just seen the length of your response and it was perhaps best separated. Many thanks for the time and thought you've put in to that, I have two stir crazy muppets sitting on my head as I write this but will have time later to give it the attention it deserves.

thanks too Offie, always aspired to be cool - only ever achieved luke warm I fear, until now! As for technique; what would you like to know?

Pere G, your muse is most appreciated, I'll send her back as soon as I've done with her, she may need a rest! Would love to hear the soundtrack to these but the YouTube link failed for some reason...

re allusive Zeph; that's certainly something I set out to achieve; that true meaning may lie in the cracks between words and probably only there, yet another zenist reference

gotta go, the fillets are demolishing the place...

Trying a little experiment now: for the full text of BTP's comments, go here

Or go to the Links on the front page and click on 'The Annexe'.

These are sinking in only slowly, though that might be because tequila is slowing my brain. Not only allusive, but elusive, and definitely cool.

cheers munni, alluded, eluded, aloof, alemon? Also alacrity alleviated (well, almost)

The little response-piece over at Zeph's shiny new site The Annexe (worth visiting if only for the raccoon and the flamingo) has a few links to picture-poems by a Scots poet I took to be File's predecessor in this interesting tradition (though of course I'm not accusing File of copying or for that matter even having been aware of him): Ian Hamilton Finlay.

Zeph has also posted there some images of Finlay's poem-sculpture garden at his home in Lanarkshire, and I've given some links to Finlay picture-poems. The Tate Gallery has a wonderful collection of 161 of them, the great majority viewable in successive links if you begin by clicking on any one. I've given one over there; here's another I love, "Summer Sails":

I do hope some will look--and enjoy, as we have enjoyed File's creations.

Yes, many thanks Zeph for opening the Annexe, and great choice of pics, Finlay's and your own growing menagerie

BtheP, am trying to comment there but having a few problems...

Anonymous said...

Yes Zeph--having the same problems File relates, in posting on The Annexe comments box.

Sorry about the posting problems in the new wing, should be sorted out now.

Filou, just curious about the technique en général, like how do you actually make them? All computer generated? Do you use photographs, or parts of photographs? Do you draw any of this, etc...

And you don't even have to answer, I'm happy to look and enjoy.

I was actually going to nick one of your earlier ones for the bedroom partition wall, but Banjo Girl muttered something about bamboo, soji, polynesian style, and our printer's crap anyway, so I never got around to it. But I thought those were cool too.

I use all of the above techniques O, including the etc. Residual Def. is nearly all manufactured on photoshop but I find it easier to use ms publisher for text

need not nick when my woks are given freely

Been reticent recently for reasons including tech.
Isolation from the Other Stuff world led to reminiscences - from which good stuff may come
harsh conditions lead to looking to all ways for betterment, so incense has been burned
Too much time with tabloids and radio has inclined to incandescent rage over many topics
Leaves just ascencion. Can't address this for a few weeks!

But buy into the lizard's of intention.

My lizards are working hard to ensure my intentions will not only clean the house this week but also keep me in touch with all you wonderful people.
