well those polynesians in mutiny on the bounty (anthony hopkins and mel gibson version)
got the kit and the moves just right...
or the pride of erin witha coathanger up your jumper...

I'm looking forward to a tangoing Widdy. All right, I'm not.
Love the Cha Cha one. My parents' neighbours had a hostess trolley. Never used as far as I know, but washed and shined every week.
Really like these, Zeph - something of Archy and Mehitabel about them, seems to me.
Doc, those hula girls'll start a mutiny every time... re the pride of Erin with the coathangers, try saying Michael Flatley's Feet of Flames after a few drinks....
Melton, where did all the hostess trolleys go? are they all on eBay?
Ringo: maybe it's the short lines. I love Archy and Mehitabel, though, so perhaps they were a subliminal influence.
Lovely stuff, zeph
Hello there. I say, do I have the right place? Is this Zepherine's blog? Zepherine the well-known poet whose work is a jewel in the diadem that is the recently published Guardian poetry collection?
Thanks, Billy. Originally written for PP, of course, so it's all your fault:)
Ah, Mishari, the Zephirine who is putting a brave face on her disappointment, having been emailed by S Crown for permission to use one of my pomes in the 'trailer' selection published in the Guardian today, and then finding that (sigh) obviously there wasn't enough space for mine.... but the ones picked are all goodies.
But yes, there it is, a book! with at least one of my oeuvres in it somewhere, along with fine works by Mishari, Melton, Freep, and not forgetting ofile, better known on this blog as File. So that's my Christmas shopping sorted.
In fact, zeph, four of your fine poems are in there:
"Does madam prefer still or sparkling water?"
"Postcard from the Azure Coast",
"Memory obstinately keeps" and
"I wish that money liked me more"
(obviously, I haven't seen the book yet but that was the finally running order as posted by Bill back in June 2009).
Mowbray (AKA The Beast of Bembridge) has 5 in there (to our 4 each). Obviously, he bribed the printers, the swine...
Nah, he's a minority innit, from the Isle of Wight, it's political correctness gone mad. Or he's pretty good at potery, one or the other.
Congratulations all, on being published. And what better place to celebrate than Zeph's multi-rhythmic ballroom?

zeph,
oops, I forgot Saturday night fever!
I hope you don't mind but I thought it was appropriate to post clips related to ball room dancing. Ettore Scola revival of the 30's, 40's and 50's history through a ball room. Not exactly the glamourous set that you expect for dancing, but 50 years of history representing men and women dancing inside the same decorum: priceless.
MM sent the heavies round; what was I to do?
The first link didn't seem to work, Guitou, but the second one is lovely - I'd forgotten how good Le Bal is, I must away to amazon.fr and order it on DVD.
I find the stylisation of competition ballroom dancing very odd compared to the genuineness and informality of the local dance-hall as in Le Bal.
Billy: we understand...
Just gorgeous and now I don't need to watch the telly. Just come here to find poems about dancing.
Distracts me wonderfully from the dark.
Thanks, Mimi:)
Nothing at all to do with dancing, but I thought these sculptures were stunning. Amazing idea.
Stunning indeed + it may have to do with dancing:
there is this song, " under the sea
the bass play the brass, the sardine begin the beguine and each little clam knows how to jam...."
Also in the picture it looks like there is a guy who seems to know the broom dance.
And we watch dancing a lot but not watching as much as birthday so I wonder about dancing and crying. There is this.

Of course everybody hurts.
